The medical field is an area that offers a tremendous number of job openings. Depending on your training you can either be a doctor or a nurse for college graduates with many years of studies behind or you can be in charge of the front office or do the billing if you don’t have such a high training. Either way the pay checks are quite good and there are almost always openings for new jobs. As I said, there are a lot of jobs in the medical field; you just have to find the one that suits you best.
One of the most rewarding jobs, financially speaking, is medical scientist. This means that you mostly have to conduct tests and do a lot of research. Usually medical scientist work in laboratories, where they have all the equipment they need. To get here is very hard and you’ll need a PhD in biological science and a medical degree too. In the coming decade the employment in this particular area is expected to grow a lot due to all the new discoveries, new pieces of equipment and new viruses and diseases. A median annual wage is around $75.000, depending on the particular area one is working. At the other pole we have nurses. While a medical scientist doesn’t have a lot of contact with patients and he studies only special cases, nurses are the ones that take care of all the patients and have contact with them. Nurses work under the direct specifications of a doctor and their job goes from taking vital signs to collecting blood samples to making sure the patient has everything he needs. To become a nurse you don’t need too many years of study or too many qualifications. A couple of years studying in a nursing program and you can get your diploma. A median annual wage is around $40.000, depending on the institution you are working in and the job description.
The medical field offers many possibilities and beside those the article already mentioned, one may be interested in pursuing a pharmaceutical career which is very demanded at the moment or becoming an anesthesiologist, which is highly paid too. |
